The best way to start the day is with a dose of inspiration and creativity. Jacket Required, a two-day event showcasing the latest and most innovative street and menswear brands, did just that.
Spread over an impressive 22,000 square feet, Holborn’s Victoria House allowed the Indiv team to sample an endless and varied collection of products, as well as getting to talk to the designers themselves!
Some of our favourites from the day were Musto, who, with over forty years of experience in sailing and outdoor clothing, perfectly balanced practicality with style in their AW13 collection. We must say, the sailing range was really interesting, with the flagship piece – the HPX Pro, being worn by the likes of Team GB!
Street wear at Jacket Required certainly came out in force, with WeSC ‘s Saddle Runar trainers in a striking leather and denim contrast, as well as Levi’s Vintage/Made & Crafted and Irish brand Stighlorgan providing great interpretations of casual, classic clothing and accessories essential to the modern man’s wardrobe. The detailing on garments from the gently curved jetted back-pockets on Levi’s M & C chinos, to the waterproof and durable sixteen-ounce duck canvas constructed backpacks by Stighlorgan are examples of the street wear that subtly raised the standard and expectation of casual menswear.
Eyewear brand Eye Respect displayed innovative and alternative hand-made frames that feature a signature seven-tooth fixed hinge for a durable and sturdy motion – Individualism’s latest members Nas and Edd proved how good the collection looked by modelling them with the brand’s Fashion Director, Rufus Abbott!
So, if you are an aspiring designer, writer, or simply just looking for creative ideas, make sure you do not miss Jacket Required next time around.
Bearing that in mind, if you happen to see us floating about, be sure to say hello!
