As our Day Ones would probably know, Indiv is nearly ten years old and all of it’s founding members have now grown up (ish). Over the years, we’ve helped each other hustle great personal brands that have opened doors for us all, leading to work in places that we’d never have dreamed of prior. We now feel that it’s time to help the next generation through.

We were recently inspired by the turn out and energy at Aaron’s ‘London Locks‘ screening. The crowd was great, the vibe was progressive and many left inspired and motivated. So instead of throwing one of our parties, we’re now testing a series of events entitled ‘Indiv Presents’. Many industries, including the mainstream media, overlook diverse talent. We’re all underdogs at Indiv, so would like to shed more light on people like us in general.
Each event will tackle a different theme. This debut event is about going ‘Against the Grain‘ and will be at Cafe 1001 on Wednesday 30th November from 6:30-11pm. Reuben will host it and we’ll have three pioneering speakers. Each speaker will give a 15 minute talk on the chosen theme, covering their own journey, then Reuben will question them on a panel and we’ll conclude with an audience Q&A. We’ll then end the evening with our resident DJ Pharaoh to play us into the night as we chill and connect (although Nigel will probably burst into a newly choreographed dance routine. It’s cool, though).
There are only 150 tickets available via this link and no guest list on the door…
Here’s the event details. We hope to see you there!
Reuben Christian is a presenter and comedian from East London, and also the co-founder of Individualism. With over eight years experience hosting live events he has worked with The BBC, Channel 4, Virgin Media and TEDx to name a few. He has hosted everything from intimate live music nights and comedy shows, to larger entrepreneurial debates and festivals.

Gold Mokwe, or the ‘Fresh Princess of Hackney’ as she’s commonly known, is the brainchild behind Hot Since ’91, the events brand that brings us 90’s Karaoke at The Garage, London. Having put on only three parties prior, Gold worked with her brother Ike to take 90’s Karaoke from an event of fifty people in a one room bar in Camden, to a super fun house of 90’s memorabilia over three rooms with an average monthly attendance of seven hundred and fifty!

GYNelle Leon is an award-winning photographer with a MSc in forensic science, used to work in finance and fraud prevention, then packed that all in, quit her job and sold her flat…to open a cactus shop. Prick – Cactus Shop London is London’s first boutique dedicated to cacti and other succulents. Although this is her first solo business venture, Prick has been featured in The Metro, Evening Standard, Financial Times, iD and Time Out. Oh, and she does her own PR.

Shakka is an award winning singer, songwriter, producer, founder and CEO of ‘Hand Me Down Studios’. Famed for his feature on Wretch 32’s smash Blackout and taking on lead vocal duty with Basement Jaxx, he’s supported Rudimental on tour, collaborated with Delilah and has regular plays on BBCR1 and 1xtra. He also recently played the BBC R1 Stage at Glastonbury – not bad for a DIY musician, eh?

Ki Pharaoh is a strong independent woman who don’t need no man to do nothing for him. Sometimes he takes photos, writes music, DJ’s and throws parties.
Let’s keep moving forward people!
