A HOME AWAY FROM HOME: in collaboration with DUNE LONDON x KIT NEALE

If i could choose to live in any part of Tokyo, it would be in the humble town of Asakusa. I know what you’re gonna say; isn’t Asakusa very busy almost all the time?  And the answer to that question is; that doesn’t bother me. Tokyo in general is an extremely fast-paced city, even more so than any other city in the world. But it’s charm is in it’s inhabitants, weird and wonderful subcultures, world-class food and what’s even more appealing is the feeling that no one notices you in this mega metropolis. I know it’s a weird thing to say, but what’s better than feeling like you’re at home, when you’re not at home? Which is why we pick to stay in Asakusa every time we visit. Every so often, me and the Mrs try to wake up before the sun rises so that we can roam the streets before the locals start to swarm Senso-ji Temple for a prayer during their morning commute and the tourists flock to Nakamise street for Kintsuba (traditional Japanese sweets), Senbei (Japanese crackers) and all types of street food and snacks starting from 10:00am onwards. The sweet spots however are from 6:00am-9:00am where you can really, immerse yourself in it’s tranquility and gage the scale of the town without all the craziness about to unfold.

With Senso-ji’s deep orangey red exterior, modern accents, countless vending machines and street food market culture, i thought made it a perfect match for Dune London’s latest collaboration with London-based designer Kit Neale. Inspired by the graphics Kit had discovered on seafood packaging purchased from oriental supermarkets, the Kit Neale X Dune London collection is made up of a barrage of shoes, trainers and accessories featuring some unique all over print seafood motifs. From hi-shine derby shoes to printed duffle bagsbackpacks and passport holders, this set was made perfect for travelling and exploring new cultures.
